There you will often find printed leaflets letting you know what is on in the local area.
Also look on the trees in the villages you pass through - if they have a leaflet stuck on the tree it is often to advertise a local event.
(A few years ago such a chance encounter led us to the centre of Martres-Tolosane, where a Medieval Fayre was in progress in which the whole village seemed to be taking part - in period costume - Knights on horseback in full armour - Maids in distress - Archery Competitions and a good number of stalls selling appropriate artifacts. The number of tourists could be counted on one hand - but nobody seemed to mind and a good time was being had by all. Third week of May each year.)
Visit the Tourist Office in Aspet when you pick up your first supplies and see if there is anything of interest for you in the area.
